Tamko Gutter Replacement: The Miami Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Tamko-compatible gutter replacement systems throughout Miami, with most full replacements running $1,800 to $4,200 installed depending on linear footage, story height, and fascia condition. Same-week scheduling is typical for gutter work, and our trucks carry standard Tamko profiles so we can quote from the curb, not from a catalog. Most Miami homeowners discover the failure the hard way: a rusted seam lets go during an afternoon downpour, and suddenly there’s a waterfall pouring off the corner of the house and pooling against the slab. By the time you see staining on the soffit or erosion in the flower bed, the gutter has usually been quietly failing for months.
Tamko makes a solid gutter product, but Miami’s salt air and near-daily summer rain punish any galvanized or aluminum system faster than the national average. We replace more Tamko gutters due to seam separation and hanger pull-out than anything else.
Which Tamko Models This Applies To
Tamko gutter systems fall into two main lines: their standard 5-inch K-style aluminum profiles and a heavier 6-inch half-round option used on larger roof runs. Both use the same hanger spacing and drop-outlet dimensions, but the 6-inch half-round requires different end caps and miters than the K-style, so bringing a downspout measurement alone won’t get you an accurate quote. Look for the Tamko stamp on the inside face of the gutter or on the original invoice’s spec sheet. If the stamp is gone, measure the top opening width: 5 inches across means K-style, 6 inches with a curved bottom profile means half-round.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: Tamko’s OEM gutters are fine, but we’ve found the aftermarket equivalents in 0.032-gauge aluminum often hold up slightly better in Miami’s coastal zones because the alloy blend is less prone to pitting near salt spray. We’ll show you both options with a real price on each before any work starts. The compatibility gotcha to know: Tamko’s 6-inch half-round uses a non-standard miter angle, so generic box-store miters won’t seat flush. We order those direct from Tamko or our fabricator rather than force a bad fit.

Signs Your Tamko Gutter Replacement Is Failing
- Water spilling over the front lip during normal rain. This usually means the hangers have pulled loose from the fascia or the pitch has settled. In older Miami homes, the real culprit is often rotted fascia board behind the gutter, not the gutter itself.
- Visible gaps at the seams or end caps. Tamko’s seam sealant breaks down under Miami’s UV exposure, typically within five to seven years. Once the sealant fails, every rainstorm leaks at that joint and rots whatever is below it.
- Sagging or visible pulling at the hanger points. Miami’s afternoon downpours put real weight in the gutter fast. When you can see daylight between the gutter and the fascia, the hanger screws have stripped. Water then runs behind the gutter and straight into the soffit.
- Rust streaks or pinholes along the bottom. Coastal salt air accelerates galvanic corrosion. Once pinholes start, patching buys you weeks, not years. We see this most often on homes within two miles of Biscayne Bay.
- Water pooling at the foundation or staining the soffit. The downspout has likely clogged at the outlet or the gutter has shifted enough that water bypasses the drop entirely. Foundation washout is the expensive end point of a gutter problem, and by then you’re paying for landscaping and slab work on top of the gutter fix.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Miami, a typical single-story home running 120 to 180 linear feet of gutters runs $1,800 to $3,400 installed with standard 5-inch K-style aluminum. A two-story home or one using the 6-inch half-round profile lands between $2,800 and $4,200. The biggest cost drivers are linear footage, whether fascia board needs replacing, how many stories the crew is working on, and whether your downspouts need re-routing.
Every quote we give includes the gutters, hangers, end caps, miters, downspout connections, removal and haul-away of the old system, and a written line-item price before any work starts. No change orders, no “we found something else” surprises. The work is covered by our written guarantee, and if anything fails within 365 days, we come back and make it right at no charge. That second visit is free, in writing, every time.
DIY or Call Us?
What you can safely check yourself: whether the hanger screws are tight, whether the downspout outlet is clear, and whether the pitch still runs toward the outlet. Running a hose down the high end will tell you quickly if water is moving or pooling. That’s worth five minutes.
Where DIY goes wrong is the actual replacement. Gutters are long, floppy, and awkward on a ladder, and most Miami homes put gutters at the second-story eave line where a fall is one misstep away. The bigger risk is a bad install you won’t notice for six months, when a sagging run starts dumping water against the fascia. At that point you’re paying twice. If the gutter has failed to the point of replacement, call us at (850) 753-2996. We’ll give you a straight number.
FAQs
Tamko aluminum gutters typically last 12 to 18 years in Miami, but homes within two miles of salt water often see failure at the 8-to-10-year mark due to pitting and seam corrosion. The sealant at joints usually fails first, regardless of location.
If the damage is isolated to one seam or one loose hanger, yes, a targeted repair can buy you a few years. But if you’re seeing rust pinholes, multiple failed seams, or sagging across more than one run, replacement is the cheaper long-term call. Call (850) 753-2996 and we’ll tell you honestly which side your gutter falls on.
Most single-story Miami homes are done in four to six hours, including removal and haul-away. Two-story homes or jobs requiring fascia replacement typically take a full day. We schedule gutter work in one visit whenever possible.
We keep standard 5-inch K-style profiles in white and bronze on our trucks, and we can have the Tamko 6-inch half-round fabricate-matched and ready within a few days for most Miami jobs.
